When Elder Scrolls Online first came out, many ESO account holders questioned the archaic use of a subscription system. Now, as many ESO gold hunters have predicted, the subscription system is announced to be ending. What does this mean for Elder Scrolls Online account holders? We take a look and answer pertinent questions.
Unlimited ESO gold hunting
Come March 17, 2015, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will be launched. The new edition of the game will come with all the updates of the original and will no longer require a subscription to play. Alongside this, the Crown Shop will be launched. This new shop can be used by players to buy items otherwise not obtainable using Elder Scrolls Online gold. Furthermore, the new ESO Plus premium membership program will be launched. Note that this is not required to play Tamriel Unlimited.
ESO gold hunting subscription transitions
Once Tamriel Unlimited launches, all game accounts will automatically be upgraded to the new edition for free. Players with active subscriptions will have their subscriptions converted to its equivalent ESO Plus membership. Note that since the new edition of the game does not require a subscription, players with cancelled subscriptions can return to the game and play for free.
Crowns and ESO gold
With Tamriel Unlimited a new virtual currency will be introduced. Called Crowns, the new currency can only be used in the upcoming Crown Shop. The latter will be where players can buy exclusive Elder Scrolls Online items, Elder Scrolls Online armor and Elder Scrolls Online weapons and more. Future Downloadable Content (DLC) can also be purchased here.
Crowns can be obtained several ways. Old accounts will automatically be given 500 crowns at launch, with an extra 100 crowns for each 30-day period they have been an active subscriber. New players get 500 crowns when they buy the game and make an account. Players who enroll in ESO Plus will get 1,500 crowns once every 30 days. Lastly, Crown Packs can be purchased from the Elder Scrolls Online store for PC and Mac users.
